OUR STORY

United Artists of Santa Ana (UASA) started in 2012 as a community response to save the Santora Arts building from being sold to a church and threatening decades of civic investment in the Santa Ana Artists Village. Since 2013, UASA’s arts advocacy has resulted in numerous benefits to Santa Ana’s arts community including:

    • The creation of the Santa Ana Arts Commission
    • The citywide Santa Ana Arts Master Plan
    • The annual Santa Ana Investing in the Artists Grant
    • Affordable housing for artists

For the past eight years, United Artists of Santa Ana has led arts advocacy efforts to strengthen Santa Ana’s arts infrastructure, create opportunities for Santa Ana’s artists and serve Santa Ana’s diverse community.

SANTA ANA: A THRIVING ARTS DESTINATION

In 2013, United Artists of Santa Ana met with City Council members and made several presentations advocating  their vision and plan for healthy economic development for the arts in Santa Ana, which included:

    • UASA participation in development of new Santa Ana Strategic Plan
    • Commitment to arts-based economic development that provides business opportunities for Santa Ana artists and arts organizations.
    • Protecting the civic investment in the Artists Village
    • Restoring ArtWalk as an art-centric event with thematic months highlighting each of Santa Ana’s six wards, strategic tie-ins to exhibits, artist talks & art installations
    • Sunday afternoon Art Brunches in the Artists Village to promote networking between artists and arts patrons
    • Artist live/work spaces
    • Artist residencies
    • Reinvestment in the Cultural Life of the City

OUR WEBSITE

In 2016, the United Artists of Santa Ana website was attacked and disabled by Russian malware, and we focused our community-building efforts on Facebook. Since then, we have provided consistent and valuable outreach regarding opportunities, events, grants, professional development and exhibits to the local arts community.

Now, we are relaunching the United Artists of Santa Ana to engage the community at a greater level, and also to expand our communication with the arts community and our arts advocacy with the new Mayor, City Council, City Manager and Arts and Culture Commission.

The United Artists of Santa Ana website (pictured above) provided information, event listings, an artist directory and updates on UASA’s advocacy efforts before it was disabled by Russian hackers in 2016.

United Artists of Santa Ana (UASA) is committed to nurturing the growth and preservation of the Arts in Santa Ana by empowering the local arts community.
